I wanted to share some of my favorite fall decor items this year so that you can get a head start on your own planning! I made a list of my favorite go-to items that I'll be using throughout my decorating.
1. Amber bottles! I'm so excited to see how my decorating comes together with amber bottles. I love them in all sizes, shapes, and textures. Make sure you check out my blog post on how to style your bottle collection. Why are these my must have go-to fall item? The warm colors and tones are so inviting and mirror the color of the leaves that will be falling. The glow they have when in the right lighting screams all kinds of warm and cozy. These have easily become an item I can't decorate without. I have a lot of them in my restocks so keep an eye out to add to your collection or start! You won't want to miss out on using amber bottles in your decorating this fall--and all year!
2. Crocks! I'm so excited to try these out this year! I recently came across one in my antique hunting and I'm counting down the days to mum season to pop one inside my crock. I've seen other girls decorate with crocks and I love the look. I think the size and sturdy structure in my decorating grounds all of my decor. I would check around locally for one if you were interested in finding one. These are very heavy which keeps me from having them in my online shop. You might already have one so pull it out and see what you can do with it!
3. Books! If you follow me on Instagram and even more so--if you watch my instagram stories, you know I'm obsessed with the older Hardy Boy Books with tan cover. This neutral color is perfect styled for fall. I've become a neutral girl because I like the clean and calm tones. I feel like I get the most out of my decor using neutral pieces that I can use all year.
4. Candles! This is a big one for me! Alex and I are so obsessed with candles. I can remember certain scents from when we first started dating that remind me of him. Smell is is HUGE--sometimes forgotten--aspect of decorating that can really invite you into a space.
My grandma was a candle maker which lead me to add this to the shop in 2018. My early decor boxes all had candles. It was the mystery gift in last summers fall box too! Earlier this year I added them to the shop again full-time since having more space out here in the she shed.
I use grandma Pat's original candle making supplies from the 70s to make your candles! It's basically in my blood to make and create. I suggest using soy candles in their home. We've always had these types of candles over say, yankee candles or candles you can get at big box stores. Soy candles are healthier for you and don't release toxins and soot into your home. I only make soy candles for this reason so when you're adding a candle to your home decor this fall, choose something warm and cozy in flavor, and look to see that it's soy. It'll burn longer, cleaner, and it's better for you and your home. Small businesses would appreciate your order any day over a big box store anyway.
All four of these items on my list here can be used all year. If you want to decorate for a holiday with these items they can easily be adjusted for that season or holiday. 2 easy ways you can do that is with accessories: add ribbon and other embellishments to the item directly or add other accent decor around it with it holiday related decor. It's easy and is space friendly. When I say space friendly it means you don't have to store decor you aren't using for the time of year, these 4 pieces can be kept out all year--no need to store them!
Thanks for visiting the blog today I hope that this helps you plan out some key decor pieces to add to your fall decor this year!
